Intra-familial Child Sexual Abuse
Identifying child sexual abuse early and providing a supportive response has been found to reduce the long-term adverse impacts of child sexual abuse. Professionals must be alert to the signs when something isn’t right for the children they work with.
The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse have released a Signs and indicators template designed to help professionals spot when a child might be showing them that something is wrong, and to act.
Children may show emotional, behavioural and physical signs of abuse. Their free Signs and indicators template is an essential resource for professionals who want to identify, discuss, record and share concerns that a child is being, or has been, sexually abused and respond.

As a result of recent Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership are currently commissioning Intra-familial Child Sexual Abuse training for practitioners across Staffordshire. We are also working in partnership with the NSPCC and statutory partners in the development of five short micro courses on Intra-familial Child Sexual Abuse due to go live in 2025.
